boise philharmonic American pioneers EVENT IMAGE

Event Information

We celebrate past centuries of American life as portrayed by Copland, Gershwin, and Grammy-nominated composer Zhou Tian. Aaron Copland’s Pulitzer Prize-winning depiction of life in Appalachia embodies what many consider to be the sound of the “pioneer spirit”. Grammy-nominated composer Zhou Tian’s TRANSCEND commemorates the 150th Anniversary of the Golden Spike that completed the Transcontinental Railroad, and pays tribute to the cultural heritage of the workers who brought the marvel to fruition. Gershwin’s Piano Concerto in F Major, featuring our guest soloist Spencer Myer, was written to represent “the young, enthusiastic spirit of American life.”
