Join us for a conversation between Ta-Nehisi Coates, author of The Beautiful StruggleWe Were Eight Years in PowerBetween the World and Me, and the forthcoming The Water Dancer, and Mitchell S. Jackson, author of The Residue Years and Survival Math: Notes on an All-American Family.

TA-NEHISI COATES is a distinguished writer in residence at NYU’s Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute. He is the author of the bestselling books The Beautiful StruggleWe Were Eight Years in Power, and Between the World and Me, which won the National Book Award in 2015. Ta-Nehisi is a recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship. He is also the current author of the Marvel comics Black Panther and Captain America. His novel The Water Dancer will be released on September 24, 2019. 


MITCHELL S. JACKSON‘s debut novel The Residue Years received wide critical praise. Jackson is the winner of a Whiting Award. His novel also won The Ernest J. Gaines Prize for Literary Excellence and was a finalist for The Center for Fiction Flaherty-Dunnan First Novel Prize, the PEN / Hemingway Award for Debut  Fiction, and the Hurston / Wright Legacy Award. His nonfiction book Survival Math: Notes on an All-American Family was recently published by Scribner. He is a Clinical Associate Professor of writing in Liberal Studies at New York University.
