Broadway by the River

In our effort to better prepare high school students as they build the tools they will need to be successful in a career in the performing arts, we have seen a need to provide an opportunity for community building amongst students and give them a safe platform to perform for one another. In November, we held our first “Broadway by the River.” This cabaret-style setting was set up in the Main Lobby of the Morrison Center, where students mingled as they listened to their fellow performers sing songs from their favorite Broadway shows and cheered each other on. Rarely do students have an opportunity to sing for their peers with a live accompanist in a safe environment, try out an audition song they’ve been working on, and feel supported. We hope that this ongoing performance opportunity will strengthen bonds between schools and empower students to push themselves as they grow stronger in their talents.
