Don’t Get Scrooged: A Holiday Guide to Buying Tickets Safely
Resale platforms operate independently from event organizers. Some ignore price caps, bypass ticket authenticity checks, hide massive fees, sell the same ticket to more than one customer, and even allow speculative listings—tickets that are posted for sale before they actually exist. Here’s how to take control of your tickets:
Myth | The Morrison Center has control over pricing on reseller sites.
Reality: The Morrison Center has no control over pricing on these sites and can provide no recourse to patrons who make purchases through them.
Myth | It is impossible to steer clear of third-party ticket sellers.
Reality: False. Use the following tips and tricks:
Purchase directly through MorrisonCenter.com or Ticketmaster.com. To ensure accurate pricing and dodge unfamiliar domain names for good, bookmark these pages.
S.P.O.T. the Scam
S - SEARCH SMART
Check your search results. When searching for the Morrison Center or MorrisonCenter.com, be wary of sponsored results. Third-party resale sites frequently appear in search results above the Morrison Center’s official website. The first result in a Google search of the Morrison Center is a link to “Morrison Center Boise Events” through “GoTickets”—a reseller platform. Patrons will find the Morrison Center official website listed as “Velma V. Morrison Center Official Site - Boise” below other search results.
Another way to yield risky, sponsored results is to search for the event name alone or with “Morrison Center.” A search of “The Nutcracker+Morrison Center” displays four reseller sites as top results.
P - PRICE & PLACE CHECK
Check the price and place. Are you seeing extreme prices? Higher prices than those found at MorrisonCenter.com indicate a ticket reseller. Can’t pick your seat either? Often, the secondary ticketing market doesn’t allow you to pick a specific seating location.
O - OFFICIAL SITE ONLY
Look at your URL. https://www.morrisoncenter.com/ is the Morrison Center’s verified home page URL, or https://www.ticketmaster.com/
T - TRUE URL TEST
If you spot extra characters, misspellings, strange branding, or an unsecure connection (http versus https) in your search bar, then you are likely on a deceptive “white-label website”—one that mimics official, primary sellers like Ticketmaster but have no formal affiliation with the venue.
This also applies to emails—check the sender’s domain. Official Morrison Center communications will always come from morrisoncenter@engage.ticketmaster.com. Never click on links or images in suspicious emails. If you think there is a problem with your Ticketmaster account or are wondering if an email is really from the Morrison Center, log in to your account directly or reach out to our Box Office.
Purchasing from a third-party?
You will miss out on communications for your event entirely if you purchase tickets from a third party outside of verified resale through Ticketmaster. Cancellation notices and “Know Before You Go” emails, which include pertinent pre-show information, will not be received.
Know your resale sites. Tickets Center, Event Tickets Center Inc., Vivid Seats, SeatGeek, and StubHub are popular third-party sellers.
Contact us. If something doesn’t feel right, or you’d like to avoid encountering resale tickets altogether, our Box Office is here to help. For ticketing questions, call 208-426-1111 from 10:00am - 3:00pm, Monday through Friday.
Note: Third-party resellers do not inform us of their bookings. Box Office staff can confirm if your tickets are authentic. You may contact your bank to contest charges for invalid tickets.
Myth | All third-party ticket sellers are fraudulent.
Reality: There are legitimate third-party marketplaces. Ticketmaster lists resale tickets by trusted sellers within the safety of their platform. Pink dots on an event’s seat map denote verified resale tickets with prices set by the third party, while blue dots reflect seats with prices controlled by the Morrison Center.
Despite the legitimacy of verified resale, it is important to remember that Ticketmaster and the Morrison Center still do not determine the prices of secondary tickets—resellers operate independently from our venue; Ticketmaster is a ticketing services provider that third parties use to sell secondary tickets, not a party to the contract between you and the reseller.
For an excellent experience every time, buy direct.
Myth | Ticketmaster and the Morrison Center hide fees until checkout.
Reality: As of May 2025, the Morrison Center and Ticketmaster moved to all-in pricing, meaning the price you see on our website is the price you pay, with no added fees at checkout. We display ticket options at the lowest starting price before sales tax so you get the best value. If you see something like, “Tickets start at $43.50. Price includes fees (before taxes if applicable),” then you’re in the right place.
The Morrison Center wants to make memories with you—not ticketing stress. Ticket-buying is the first step to our seats and your special night out, so skip the resale and come straight to us:
